Typical applications

Tetraselmis is part of the major algae group of green algae and a genus of phytoplankton.

Tetraselmis is widely distributed across the globe and considered a key part of ocean and freshwater ecosystems.

Species of this algae have been studied thouroughly and have proven to be useful to research and industry. Besides helping understand plankton growth rates and multicellularity evolution, many Tetraselmis species are also currently being investigated for their use as biofuel due to their high fat content[1].

In aquaculture, Tetraselmis is used as food. It is ideal for live prey such as Rotifers and Artemia and filter feeders such as Molluscs and Crustacean larvae. In combination with Nannochloropsis and Isochrysis, it becomes a highly recommended food for flatfish larvae[2].

As an excellent source of the Omega-3 fatty acid EPA, linoleic acid and many vitamins, Tetraselmis optimizes larvae development and growth performance[3]

Tetraselmis also shows a considerable concentration of pigments.

This product is available in the following forms: fine powder and paste.
